RISERVA DUELECCI EST 2018 The Tenuta di Sesta 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Duelecci Est (with only 3,500 bottles released) is one half of a pair of Riserva wines made at this estate from the same site. The Duelecci Vineyard, with two soil profiles and microclimates that differ on the eastern flank and the western flank, has demonstrated the best results over the years. The general rule is that the eastern (Est) flank is prioritized in the cooler years, and the western part (Ovest) is harvested in the hot vintages. This wine shows dried fruit flavors with dark currant and crème de cassis, and there are herbal influences with bay leaf and rosemary essence. The tannins are dry, and the wine feels polished over medium length.

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO COSTA DI MONTE 2019 Here's a new wine from Tenuta di Sesta that represents a selection of the best fruit from the latest-ripening vineyard plot placed at the estate's highest elevation. This 1.6-hectare parcel sits at 350 meters above sea level with rocky soils, clay and limestone. The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Costa di Monte shows similar texture and fruit weight as seen in the village bottling; however, the flavors feel even darker in this case. If that wine has red and purple fruits, this wine veers toward black plum and blackberry. It sees both Slavonian and some French oak and ages for three years. It closes with rich texture, some sweet almond, spice and velvety tannins. Production is limited to 3,700 bottles, and I give this bottle an edge in terms of longevity.

Those ripe and concentrated flavors give depth and volume to this wine, yet it also shows the heightened acidic freshness that Sangiovese delivers so well, and some chalky minimality. The tannins are yielding and not quite approachable, but they're almost there. This wine sees 30 months in Slavonian oak, and 50,000 bottles will hit the market in January 2024.

Aging takes place in traditional Slavonian oak casks for 40 months, with a total production of 4,000 bottles.

The soil are very rocky on the east side, making that parcel better in the cool vintages. They are thinner on the west side, and the grapes here perform better in the warm vintages. There' s a little doubt, I think, that the sunny 2015 vintage would draw its fruit from the sunset side. This is an immediately attractive and genorous expression that doles out dark fruit followed by spice, earth, candied orange and wilted blue flower. Top the palate.it delivers a broad and powerful performance, although you don't get same etched or super focused characteristics that we saw in 2016. POGGIO D'ARNA IGT Toscana 2019 Intenso e luminoso il manto rosso rubino. Colpisce al naso con sensazioni di cassis, more di rovo, liquirizia, pepe, violetta e felce, eucalipto, china, scatola di sigari e macchia mediterranea. Gusto avvolgente, morbido, bilanciato da buona freschezza, ampia sapidità ed una tessitura tannica ben rappresentata. Piacevole e persistente. Vinificazione e sosta in acciaio per 3 mesi. Maturazione per 6 mesi tra botte grande e barrique.

Rosso di Montalcino 2020 Sgargiante rosso rubino. L'impianto olfattivo è disposto su toni di frutti di bosco, chinotto, spezie piccanti, erbe aromatiche, tabacco, humus e sensazioni ferrose e di ardesia. Bocca fresca e dal giusto piglio minerale, tannini finemente espressi e lunga persistenza balsamica e mentolata. Vinificazione e sosta in acciaio per 3 mesi, poi 10 mesi in botte grande.

La tela olfattiva è intessuta di frutti di bosco in composta, argilla, humus, cuoio, buccia di pesca, rabarbaro, violetta essiccata, spezie e soffi di macchia mediterranea. Caldo, quasi masticabile, tannini integrati e ricca freschezza minerale. Suggestivo e molto persistente. Vinificazione e sosta in acciaio per 6 mesi. Ulteriori 30 mesi in botte grande.

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA DUELECCI EST 2016 Granato luminoso. L'incipit olfattivo è scandito da ricordi di violetta e rosa appassite, visciole e ciliegie, eucalipto, scorza di arancia amara, macchia mediterranea, tabacco, resina, sottobosco, ferro-china e granito. Bocca travolgente per freschezza e spessore, tannini elegantemente estratti e lunghissima persistenza balsamica e minerale. Vinificazione e sosta in acciaio per 6 mesi. Maturazione in botte grande per 40 mesi.
